Research interest

The ultimate aim of my research is to understand how biodiversity is generated, organized, and maintained within complex ecosystems, and to explore how different aspects of global change may affect biodiversity and species interactions.

In order to answer these questions, I combine mathematical modelling, statistical analysis of ecological networks corresponding to different systems, and manipulative experiments on mesocosms. I combine different spatial and temporal scales of studies: from global patterns to local community dynamics, and from fossil record data to short-term predictions and observations.

Summary CV

I am currently Senior Scientist of the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and leader of the Ecological Networks and Global Change Group at the Theoretical and Experimental Ecology Station in Moulis, France. I am also an associated researcher at the Centre for Advanced Ecological Research (CREAF) in Barcelona, and visiting scientist at Imperial College London at Silwood Park. I have been a Senior Scientist at CREAF (Barcelona), a Ramon y Cajal scientist at the Spanish Research Council, within the Institue of Marine Sciences, in Barcelone, and before that I hold a NERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Queen Mary University, London. I receive my PhD from the University of Alcala, Madrid, while I was part of the Complex Systems Lab in Barcelona.
